I am a geneticist utilizing a mouse model to understand the role of mitochondria motility during optic nerve development. As a Ph.D. candidate in the Cartoni lab at Duke University, I am working on understanding the endogenous function of the mitochondrial protein Armcx1 as it relates to the development of the retinal ganglion cells and the optic nerve. I am working on developing my teaching skills by lecturing as a TA, mentoring undergraduates in the lab, and completing Duke Universities' Certificate in College Teaching.Â
